Massage and Spotting

I am hating life at the moment. So, last night I went to get a massage. I got a pre-natal massage where they have you laying on your side instead of on your tummy. Then last night (after 3 weeks of glorious blood free days!) I got brown spotting. It's still here this morning. I am so worried. Did I kill my baby by getting a massage? Am I about to end this wonderful dream? I called my OB and am waiting for the nurse to call me back. The spotting is brown and sludge-like and not very much . I have no cramps. To try to ease my mind I pulled out my little home doppler and heard the magical heart beat going at 154bpm. It was awesome. So...essentially I don't think baby is dead ....but I do think something is wrong that can lead to my poor little one leaving us! I hate this stress! So please, cross your fingers that the nurse actually calls me back before I go insane and also that this stupid brown spotting is ok.
Sorry for the downer post. I feel shit.
:( LTB

  1. I hope the nurse calls you back soon! It could definitely be from the massage, but I doubt it's anything too serious. She might ask you not to get any more massages if she thinks that's what caused it. Let us know what happens. Hang in there. I'm sure everything is ok, especially since you could find the baby's HB on the doppler!

  3. Im sorry about the spotting, that is always frigging scary :(

I doubt the massage had anything to do with it, im just hoping they call you soon from the Dr.'s office. Hearing that heartbeat is awesome though!
    Praying for you!

  4. hang in there!! i'm sure this is a big coincidence that the spotting started after the massage. although, i totally understand your worry. *fingers crossed* for the rest of your pregnancy to be very UNeventful :o)

ps - a real life friend might've found my blog, so i've gone private (private being only me) for the week, but will undo it later :o)

  5. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am sure it is nothing, but you have every right to be stressed. Keep me updated on the little one. 13 weeks and counting. 13 is my lucky number. I will loan it to you for a while. HUGS

  6. Oh no!! I'm so sorry for the scare and am praying its nothing, and that the dang nurse calls you back ASAP! Hang in there. And how nice is that doppler...i whipped mine out last night cause I was having some gas cramps (so not as scary as spotting)...and hearing the hb was the most reassuring sound. Rest up and keep us posted!

  7. I hope your nurse calls you back quickly. The only advice I can give is to drink tons and tons and tons of water. And when you think you've done that, drink some more! I spotted early on and some glorious soul on twitter told me to up my water intake. I did and sure enough the spotting subsided. Now I'm almost 19 wks and things are perfect. I also shared this with another friend and it worked for her, too. (Granted, it could be coincidence since often spotting doesn't happen for long, but it definitely helped to ease my mind.)

It makes sense, too, since they always say to drink a lot of water after any massage, pregnant or not. So while you wait for her to call you back, it's worth your time to give it a try!

Best of luck!! I hope everything is okay.

  8. Sorry to hear about this latest scare. It sucks seeing any blood, but brown is much less worrisome than red. I have a SCH and have had brown bleeding everyday since my last red bleed 1.5 weeks ago. I still hate it.
