Three Randoms...

1. After thinking my poor child would be swaddled for life we finally pulled the plug and let her loose. About 2 weeks ago when she was sick I didn't want her to overheat with the swaddle since she was already feverish, so I thought it a perfect time to get out of the swaddle for good. I also figured she wasn't sleeping well anyways because of being sick so it was going to make that any worse. I went out and bought an Aden and Anis thin sleep sack (they have winter ones too and I will definitely be picking one of those up in the fall!) I put her in the sack and she slept amazing! In fact, she is sleeping much better than she was with the swaddle! The wonderful thing is that now that she is hands free she can retrieve her own soother in the middle of the night. I toss her in the crib with 3 soothers and it is fantastic! She is also now a side-sleeper. So cute! It's so crazy how much she moves around in that crib now! I put her in with her head facing north and by morning she always has her head at the south end of the crib!?!

2. Baby girl loves swimming! I started taking her to "lessons" and also take her to the community pool almost everyday! It is so fun to watch her splash and kick around in the water. I am loving this age (where she can fully sit up on her own and not so fragile)! It is so fun to actually play with her!

3. I'm thinking of training to run a 5 or 10k. I do alot of cardio but almost never run. I stick to the elliptical or stairmaster usually. I decided to try running last week and I ran 3 miles (5k) on the treadmill in 25 minutes...i'm not sure if that is terrible or decent. Anyone with running experience want to tell me what a good time to strive for would be? I don't want to over-do it with the running since I'm worried about my milk supply (anyone have experience with this? does running lower your milk supply?) so I think I will just strive for running a good 5k now and then maybe a 10k when I am nursing less in the winter time. I would love any tips about running from other running mamas!

Well, those are my 3 randoms for the day! I'll leave you with a quick pic of my baby working hard:

  1. Oh my word she is so cute! I Think a 5k in 25 minutes is pretty good time especially if you're not a runner.

  3. I loooove the last pic of her hard at work! Too cute!!! I think I'm going to have to get one of those thin sleep sacks. Gavin is always kicking off his covers and then waking up bc he's cold. Ugh! I'm getting ready to start G in swim lessons too. He's only five months so it's just survival lessons to start with. I can't wait! A 5k or 10k - Oh wow...you go momma! I know nothing about running so I have no advice there but good luck =)

  5. A 5k in 25 minutes is a great time! Some women that I run with dream about getting a sub-25 min 5K :)

I ran while nursing and I didn't have any supply issues, but to be fair, I was also in the running for the Bessie the Cow award of overproducing.

  6. She is SO FREAKING CUTE!!! I think the milk supply issues (usually) only happen if you're exercising A LOT - like marathon training.

  7. That may well be one of the cutest babies I've ever seen! Spending time at the pool with my baby is a big part of the dream for me. So glad you're living (and loving) it.

  8. I love her expression in the picture with the towel on her head! I think your time is good (what do I know, though?), but that you should try to time yourself running on a bike path or something, because the little up- and down-hills and heat and stuff can slow you down in comparison to a treadmill with A/C. As for stages, yes this is a great one!!! I hope Penelope stays in the 'sitting but not crawling' stage for a while! We have soooooo much childproofing to do, i can't even think about it.

  9. We LOVE the Aden+Anais sleep sacks-- we have two of the single layer and two of the quad layer sacks and Liam sleeps in one every night!

  10. Yay for swimming!! And yay for you running! You did great I think! I"m still chugging along on the c25k program. I had to take a little break due to Alex's teething and clingyness but now that he's back to his normal self I'm hoping to get back to it.

  11. she is stinkin' cute. No idea on running and milk supply. I only notice less milk when I reduce calories too much. Sadly I need to reduce! Body stop taking calories from boobs and take it from butt.

  12. My mom was looking over my shoulder just now and said you have the cutesy baby :o) re: my blog post, I would've taken a mirror to down there sooner but remember you blogging months ago about how frightening things looked when you finally took the mirror to take a looks. So I refrained looking for two weeks bc of fright. Ote I would've discover my third hole sooner! Not that I'm blaming you :op
