The night my Iphone saved me...

Yesterday was a bad day. Lots of crying. From baby and mommy. So strange how one day she is awake and pleasant and amazing and the next she lets her inner demon out and cries and screams all day. Well, I hate these times during the day, but I am absolutely terrified of these crying times at night! So last night my new iphone saved me. I downloaded a miracle app. It's a white noise app, and i just played it to Alexandra's ear when she couldn't settle down at 4am and she went silent. And slept. I even found the noise relaxing and I think it put me to sleep too! The app has choices to play white noise, airplane, fan, waves crashing, rain storm, chimes, and a train! It has quickly become my favorite app of all time!
Today baby A is much happier and I am as well!
That's all I've got for today but I will post some recent pics and some updates (including a post on sleeping arrangements...touchy subject!) soon!
love you guys!

One Month

I can't believe my little tiny baby is one month old already! This month has flown by! Too fast! So much has happened with the holidays and gettign used to having a new baby! I am falling more in love with her every day. She is growing so much! I can't believe that my once 5.5 pound baby is now a whopping 8 pounds! She is growing like crazy! I guess milk does a body good! We had an appt with our new pediatrician yesterday and he confirmed what I already know...she's perfect! I loved the doctor, he is older but super nice, and patient and great with the baby. We go back in a month for her shots...we'll see how that goes!

Alexandra's getting a lot stronger now, she can turn her head from one side to the other when lying on her tummy. And she is lifting her head and holding it up on her own a lot more now. I'm still waiting for that first smile, but I can tell that she is seeing me now and hearing my voice for sure. She loves when we read to her or tell her stories...even if i am reading her articles about colic! ha ha!

I will soon have to do a post about some stuff I'm wondering...like sleep habits. But for now, I just wanted to post to mark my sweet baby's first month of life. Happy one-month birthday baby girl! I LOVE you sweet pea!

What nicknames do any of you with babies have for them? We call Alexandra "bugaboo", "peanut", "baby girl" and "princess". I wonder if any of these will stick to adulthood. I think its really cute when dad's have nicknames for their daughters...especially when they mention them at their weddings! ok...I'm getting sad even thinking about that! Getting ahead of myself!

Night-night!

New Mommy Story

I had a very funny thing happen the other day that made me feel like a "real new mom". I was about to feed Alexandra so I completely stripped off my shirt. Then she decided to have a poop, so I got up (still topless) to change her diaper in the kitchen. As I am changing her, she starts wailing, and in response to her cries both of my ta-tas start POURING milk all over the floor. Then my puppy Cosmo comes running over and drinking my milk off the floor! I was standing there, topless, dripping milk, wailing baby, and Cosmo loving it all! Woah... what have I become!?

Things have definitely improved since my last post. Baby A must have just had a bad day (I hope I'm not jinxing it by writing this down!) because she has been great the past week. She cries but is pretty easy to console. We took a few outings this week, went to Indigo to buy the Happiest Baby on The Block book (thanks Egg for the recommendation!) and have a coffee, we went to a coffee shop to meet a friend and we did groceries. i am starting to settle into this new mom thing. But I do have one guilty confession and am wondering what other people do/think. Alexandra is being great and going back to sleep after our 6 or 7am feeding and letting me sleep another 3 hours. So I am sleeping until 9 or 10am. I feel guilty for this. Do you think I should be getting up and going at 7am or is it ok to sleep? For both her and me?

One other guilty admission I have to make. Something I NEVER thought I would say or even think:

I am currently hating my dog. I want to cry just writing that. But seriously, I have NO patience for him! His annoys me beyond belief. I feel bad for him because I know it has been a big change for him too , but his shitting on the floor and jumping on the table and getting in my way ALL of the time is not helping his cause if he wants me to love him! I am seriously hoping that as things settle down I start to love him again, but right now, I honestly wish I had someone I could give him to for a couple months . I hope no one is too offended by this, I know I probably would think I was a total bitch if I had read someone writing this before I found myself in this situation. I guess its easy to judge until you live it.

Anyways, here is a pic of my cutie-pie in her "big girl" uggs!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Pictures and a few words

hello everyone! Happy new year! I had a wonderful relaxing new year's eve with the family, baby Alexandra was delightful. Then we came home last night....and the crying HAS.NOT.STOPPED! She definitely has gas. She is squirmy and crying so much today and I feel so bad for her (and for me!) Not being able to "fix" everything for your child has to be the worst and most exhausting feeling. I am hoping that today is just a bad day. I am praying that colic is not setting in. I feel sad because she didn't cry very much all weekend at my parent's house and now at home its like she hates being here! I hope she loves me and doesn't wish she lived with her grandparents! (I know she loves me...but clearly she thinks crying is the best way to show it...??!$$##&*1!)

Anyways, I am currently enjoying a few minutes of peace and must go stare at/worship my beautiful non-crying daughter while I can! Wish me luck tonight!

Here are a few pics from the past 3 weeks (baby A is 3 weeks old today! Growing up so fast!)...
